This is an article published on my LinkedIn in July 2024.
Before going through the lines, remember that I’d been asking myself for a month if I should do this post or not, then finally … here we are.
It’s been a long time that … I’ve been in this network. (Not that « professional » but those who listen to Aaliyah regularly or used to, can imagine where the beginning comes from).
And for a while, I’ve been seeing my colleagues, friends, hierarchy (don’t tell them … ) posting a lot of contents about their unique experiences, amazing journeys, or sometimes nothing that special but daily activities, … difficult to follow the trend … if ever I tried (double oups!).
And because « Cogito ergo sum »… so, started series of questions like « Can’t you make more efforts Madam Me? », «Why are you not doing posts and publishing too? », « Are you sure – you don’t want to share this recent activity? », …. Na na ni, na na na na, as my my last son uses to finish his sentences when he is bored ?
After a long time discussing with myself, I came to the conclusion that …. I’ll do the short text below.
Few years ago, my former C-boss, hearing me saying during our one2one debrief that I’m an introverted person, replied to me that he observed that I was both introverted and extraverted depending on the audience … but long story short, I sometimes allow myself few minutes to socialize with people I finally have the comfort or the necessity to meet …
Posting more often on a professional social network can be a strategic move for professionals aiming to bolster their visibility and influence within their industry or domain of expertise. However, critical or not, this strategy depends on one’s personality type.
For extroverts, frequent posts can be a natural extension of their outgoing nature. Their active presence on the network not only reflects their entrepreneurial spirit but also amplifies their personal brand, allowing them to engage directly with a vast audience and share insights that resonate globally. Their posts often highlight business strategies, industry trends, and motivational messages, contributing to their reputation as a thought leader.
Conversely, introverts approach LinkedIn posting more selectively. Their thoughtful and less frequent posts focus on major company announcements, technological advancements, and leadership philosophies. Their strategic use of LinkedIn ensures that when they do engage, their messages carry substantial weight and align closely with their company’s strategic objectives.
While extroverts may thrive on the visibility and networking opportunities that come with frequent posting, introverts often excel in crafting deeper, more impactful messages that resonate with their audience.
So, the criticality of posting more often on professional social networks hinges on aligning one’s posting frequency with their personality traits and professional objectives. Ultimately, whether extroverted or introverted, the key lies in maintaining authenticity and relevance in every LinkedIn post to maximize its impact.
